In the preface of a recent publication on "Medialization of Sustainability", the winner of the 2008 German Environmental Award, Ernst Ulrich von Weizsäcker, notes that "conventional environmental communication" has been in a state of crisis for several years. "On German TV, environmental programs are increasingly disappearing or relegated to unfavorable slots. Newspapers and magazines employ fewer and fewer environmental journalists."

Doing research and publishing your findings can be pretty stressful, as a group of secondary school students found out when, after having conducted some analyses on the water of the river Ems, they accused local farmers of polluting the river with nitrite. Following the farmers’ vehement protests the students had to backpedal. In the process, they learned a lot about water analyses and journalism – all thanks to KLASSE!

Media Partnership with Deutsche Welle for the UNESCO World Conference

On the occasion of the UNESCO World Conference on Education for Sustainable Development, which will launch the second half of the UN Decade, Deutsche Welle and the German UNESCO Commission have concluded a media partnership.
